Cable in the Classroom presents these virtual workshops and events
through its Professional
Development Institute, which trains teachers, parents, and school administrators to
use Internet and video resources effectively and efficiently. The virtual workshops and
events compliment face-to-face workshops offered by the PDI throughout the United States.
Cable in the Classroom, through its participating cable system
operators and cable program networks, provides free cable connections and basic monthly
cable service to more than 80,000 elementary and secondary schools in the U.S. It also
provides more than 500 hours per month of programming that is (a) educational, (b) free of
charge, (c) commercial free, and, (d) cleared for recording and retention by teachers.
All services from Cable in the Classroom are provided free of
charge, supported by the cable industry as a public service to the communities it serves.
